How to Set Up a Facebook Page
This video is to show you how to set up your Facebook page. Facebook does have a couple of rules. If you’re new to Facebook, then the first thing you need to do is create a new personal account. This is the best way to do it.
You’ll need to enter your real first name and just go through the signup process. I’m not going to go through the steps to creating an account, because I kind of assume almost everybody on the planet has a Facebook account at this point.
You do not want to create another Facebook account for your business. That’s what the Facebook business page is for. A Facebook page under your account can represent your business. Once you’re logged into your personal account, you can click “Create” or you can also go to “Pages” and create a page from there. Either way, it’ll take you the same place.
Then, you’ll need to select that your page is for a business or brand. Naming your page is very important; it needs to be the same as your business name and preferably your legal business name. There’s something called NAP consistency on the web that’s important for search engine optimization and getting your site to rank high.
For example, under my Google business account, my business is listed as “Sandra L Leyva Inc.” Notice there is no period after “L,” but there is a period after “Inc”. If I want to be very specific about it, I would need to style it the exact same way on Facebook and I would need to do that across all the citations and directories that my business is listed under for the entire web. You can go back and change these if they’re not consistent, but I just wanted to highlight the importance of name consistency.
There’s a couple of choices for category. You can choose accountant, or you can also choose tax preparation service. Just select whatever is more predominant or fits your business better. There isn’t one for bookkeeper, so just choose accountant. Then, you’ll need to put in a your business address. Again, address consistency is important, too.
You want to style your address identically to again, all the other places that it is on the web. And if you’re working out of your home, no worries. You can put your home address and then just check this box that says “Don’t show my address”.
Once you’ve created your new page, it’s going to ask you to do some additional things. You can do all of that later, or you can have us do it if you’ve hired us to do this for you.
The most important thing is that the page is under your name, and then you can make changes under settings. There are a lot of things you can add and edit. That’s how you set up a Facebook page under your Facebook account.
